Welcome to Val-Dieu Abbey

Founded in 1216 by Cistercian monks, the abbey Notre-Dame du Val-Dieu is a heaven of peace in the heart of the land of Herve. It is situated in the centre of the Liège-Maastricht-Aachen triangle.

Since the departure of the monks in 2001, the abbey undergoes a revival thanks to the “Christian Community of Val-Dieu”.

Visit

The park, basilica and signposted walks are open free of charge from 8.30am until sunset.

Our restaurant “Le Casse-Croûte” serves local dishes and all the Val-Dieu beers on tap.

The shop is open every day from 10am to 6pm.

The christian community prayer times (in French) are open to all.
